In maths, we have been measuring height and length. We discovered that we can measure using body parts! The children were challenged to draw and measure lines in the playground, noticing which lines were shorter, longer, shortest or longest- one line measured over 400 “feet”.
We started to read our focus book in literacy, “Leo and the Octopus”. The children were excited to find that Leo had written them a letter and given the class a toy Octopus, (which the class has named Inky.) Working in groups, the children chose a verb from the word bank and wrote a command sentence, making sure that it included a capital letter, fingers spaces and a full stop.
We are so pleased that our enquiry question has inspired many members of the class! It has been lovely to hear new facts about when the first piece of plastic was found in the ocean, and receive some posters inspired by the ocean from home learning. Please keep them coming- we love to hear how the children are taking action with their learning outside of school.
