The Big Plastic Count National Results have been released.
224,381 people took part, 28,387 school pupils, 77,783 households.
- UK households are throwing away 1.7 billion pieces of plastic a week, that is 90 billion pieces per year.
- 81% of the plastic is from food and drink.
- 58% is incinerated, 11% landfilled, 14% Exported. Only 17% of it is recycled.
The UK Produces more Plastic waste per person than almost any other Nation. USA is top. UK is second, followed by South Korea, Germany and Thailand.
